I am a figurative artist and former journalist interested in exploring psychological narratives revealed in body language, gestures and facial expressions.

Starting from sketchbook drawings and photographic images that capture ‘frozen’ moments of interaction between people, I work in charcoal, conté and oil on canvas, using artistic interventions (composition, tone, brushstrokes) to express varying levels of meaning and emotion.

I also enjoy making ink and watercolour sketches that take a more light-hearted approach to people and communication. I’ve sold successfully at Art London 2007, Artists at Home, West London, and the Bedford Park Summer Exhibition, London, and undertaken a number of commissions.

As a journalist I wrote for national newspapers and magazines and authored several books on health.

When not drawing and painting, I am a Guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern.
